Building Safety Lead

Avalon is currently recruiting for a Building Safety Lead on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis for a Local Authority in Warwickshire.

The Opportunity:

The successful applicant will ensure that the Council complies with relevant fire and building safety legislation and regulations and provide advice and support to senior managers and operational teams. You will act as the point of contact for the Building Safety Regulator on High-Risk Residential Buildings (HRRBs), reporting performance and promoting a culture of building.

The successful candidate will:

• Monitor and deliver of improvements to the Asbestos Management Plan, acting as the Council’s Responsible Officer for asbestos
• the adequacy of the Council’s monitoring and compliance regime for all statutory and regulatory property related responsibilities and dutie
• Reviewing and developing property related compliance policies, procedures, and activities in line with current and emerging legislation and best practice
• Developing and reporting appropriate KPIs and management information
• Ensuring all staff within the Assets Team receive and maintain appropriate Health & Safety training
• Maintain robust risk assessments for all property health and safety or regulatory and compliance related issues

Further information:

• Full Time at 37 hours per week
• £35.62 per hour via umbrella

Requirements:

• Knowledge in building safety and ability to function as the competent person to fulfil new and emerging legislative requirements
• Degree level qualification, or equivalent membership eg:
• 1.       RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) 
• 2.       MCIOB (Charted Member Institute of Building)
• 3.       CABE (Chartered Association of Building Engineers)
• NEBOSH General Certificate held or working towards qualification
• Educated to NEBOSH Diploma level (or working towards
• ISO 9001/18001 Auditor qualification
